Project Segments

A main goal of the project is to improve the safety and mobility of all modes of travel, with a focus on people walking and biking. Building on what we heard from the community during Phase 1 of the City Center Plan Update Vision Report, we designed improvements for each of the segments.

While improvements may be constructed on only one side of some streets in this project (as shown in the diagrams below), your input on the proposed road and sidewalk designs will help inform not only current work, but also future projects that may be completed as funding becomes available.

Please review the segment designs and respond to the questions below to share your thoughts.

Segment designs
What do you think about the electrical vehicle stations as shown in the designs along 32nd Avenue S?
The proposed design for Segment 2 removes the existing speed bumps and replaces them with raised mid-block crossings on 32nd Avenue S at South 173rd and South 172nd streets. Do you support using this technique to slow traffic while providing mid-block crossing areas?
The proposed design for Segment 2 installs raised intersections on 32nd Avenue S at S 172nd, South 173rd and South 175th streets to enhance safe pedestrian crossings. What do you think of this proposal?

The following questions apply to all segments.

What do you think of the addition of pedestrian lighting along all the street segments in this project?
Do you think that these proposed improvements will make this area easier to use for people walking?
There is limited space on the roadway to accommodate different features and modes of travel: sidewalks, bike lanes, parking, car/truck travel lanes, medians, turn lanes, and landscaping. Are you generally supportive of the proposed improvements?
